Using Gmail for sending/receiving emails for CCTV

Google has stopped "Less secure apps" from accessing your account. There is a workaround for it though and most of it is adjusted on the Google account holding your email as follows:

1. Go to your Google account and go to manage the account.

2. Go to the security section.

3. Turn on the 2-step Verification and complete the connection dialogue.

4. Click on App passwords

5. From the 'select app' drop-down choose "other" and then give it a name.

6. Click on Generate.

7. A pop-up window will then appear with a 16-digit password highlighted in yellow, make a

note of the number.

8. Now on the DVR email section there will be a password for your Gmail account replace it

with this new 16-digit code (no spaces).

9. Click on the test button to make sure it works.

Once this has been set up if you change the password to your Gmail account you may find the 16-digit code no longer works and so a new one will need to be generated, unfortunately, the Google help pages are less than helpful, as the below link is missing from them, so for your convenience please go to the address below:

https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords

It will ask you to sign in to your Gmail account login and then go to the code creator, choose a name to help remind you what the code is used for and click create. Make a note of the code and then replace the old with the new.
