These videos cover PTZ or Pan Tilt Zoom cameras. We look at their functionality, what they can do and also what connections they require to make them work. We look at the different ways a PTZ camera can be controlled using our DVR recorders or a separate controller. We also cover remote access to PTZ cameras and controlling them remotely over the internet.

In this video we see how a DVR recorder can be used to control a PTZ or pan, tilt, zoom camera. RS-485 is used to create a simple 2 wire network over which the cameras can be controlled. Several cameras can be controlled by a DVR in this way.

We look at different protocols such as Pelco P & D, as well as the Baud rate. This video was made some time ago and whilst the equipment has changed the principles remain the same.
