A general purpose fixed lens vandal dome camera that packs a punch well above it's price point might suggest. 8mm gives an angle of view of just over 40 degrees. Being a fixed lens camera there is a danger you might not be able to perfectly frame your chosen subject in the way you could when using vari-focal zoom lens camera so do consider this option.
As a guide to detail levels that can be captured using this camera a car number plate will be readable up to approximately 9 metres away during day the daytime.
