The 3.6mm fixed lens gives a wide field of view and so is best suited to general overview applications. This does mean that detail becomes less clear over 3-4 metres so do bear that in mind. If you are wanting high detail over a smaller area or your subject is further away from the camera then consider using the 8mm or 12mm fixed lens camera. Better still one of the zoom lens cameras.
As a guide to the level of detail capture possible with this camera a car number plate would be readable at up to approximately 4-5 metres during the day. Remember the wider the angle of lens the less the detail capture range.
