17 inch CCTV monitor. Many people use flat screen televisions or computer monitors to view their CCTV systems and they work fine. There are however 2 potential issues.
The first problem you encounter are the connections. All DVR recorders output their signal using BNC connectors but unfortunately these are not present on flat screen monitors or computer monitors. An adapter is required to convert the BNC fitting to either a SCART or phono input. Some DVR recorders have the ability to output via a VGA output which can be used with a computer monitor. Unfortunately VGA fittings are quite bulky so if you need to route the signal any distance problems are encountered.
The second issue you come across is the aspect ratio required to display CCTV correctly. CCTV is designed to be displayed using a 4:3 aspect ration. These days monitors and TVs tend to be produced as wide screen 16:9 this results in an elongated image.
This 17 inch monitor has the same effective display area as a 21 inch wide screen changed to display in 4:3 aspect ration (with black bands either side).
Input is via either BNC or VGA and the monitor comes complete with a VGA cable approximately 2 metres long. It is supplied with a desk mount and has mounting screws to take standard VESA wall mount brackets.
