Do you sell CCTV kits ?
A question we get asked an awful lot and the answer is no. We sell all the bits you need make up a cctv kit but we don't stock the whole lot in one box and there is a very good reason. Everybody's CCTV needs will be different. Some people want cameras for outside, some for inside, some want a mixture of cameras. Some people want to film overall views whilst other people want to film high levels of detail. Some subjects will be close to the CCTV camera, others some distance away. The cameras will also be fitted in a variety of different locations. You begin to see that a one box solution can never provide a good CCTV solution.
Cable distances will vary from application to application as well so the likelihood is whatever cables came in the box would either be too long or too short. In fact pretty much every element of a CCTV system needs to be tailored to the user's needs. When we see one box CCTV solutions they also often have things such as unique connectors to that particular kit meaning if you need to change a camera through failure or desire to alter functionality you can't because none of the ones available have the necessary fittings. The result is everything goes in the bin and you have to buy a completely new CCTV kit .
Finally CCTV kits tend to be very poor quality. Just as with all the other aspects you don't have a choice in how good or bad each element is, you simply get what you're given. Because they are sold to a price one box CCTV solutions tend to contain decidedly average quality equipment, other than the outer box of course. That will be bright, colourful and contains words such as professional, high quality, razor sharp, pinpoint, high definition and so on. They almost spend more money on the box than the contents!
We go about things slightly differently. We allow you to choose elements of your CCTV system individually to make sure you end up with exactly what you need, not what we decide you're going to get having never spoken to you. You can save money in areas where conditions are less demanding and buy the right gear for the job where things get a little tougher or results are more critical.
We still help you out and reflect the fact you're not just buying a single camera or a stand alone DVR recorder by including a power supply when you buy 4 cameras and a DVR. We fit the hard drive into the DVR recorder, format it and configure the DVR settings to save you having to wade through a 60 page instruction manual and we include a warning sign pack should you need one. As always help and advice relating to your CCTV needs is always given freely to make sure you get the right gear.
Using Cat5 cable in conjunction with our video baluns allows you to cut everything to length and make your connections using no more than a small flat blade screwdriver. We even stock DC power plugs and sockets which connect in the same way. All joints are made using industry standard connections so if you need to change a camera, a power supply or even a DVR recorder there is no need to disturb the rest of your CCTV system. Simply un-plug, remove and replace. In contrast CCTV kits with their own bespoke connectors, DVRs with built in camera power supplies and so on leave you stranded and having to replace everything including the cabling.
So if you’ve decided you need a CCTV kit make sure you get equipment that is up to the job in hand otherwise you’re wasting money on little more than a bunch of expensive dummy CCTV cameras .
