These are the eyes or your CCTV system so correct selection is essential. Amazingly over 90% of CCTV cameras we see used are incorrect or badly set up. The most common mistake people make is fitting fixed lens wide angle cameras often found in pre packaged CCTV kits.
We recommend using vari-focal cameras. These let you to zoom your CCTV camera in or out during installation meaning you capture as much detail as possible without wasting valuable pixels on non essential subject matter. CCTV systems evolve over time and you may want to re-position a camera. With varifocal cameras you to simply zoom in or out to suit the camera’s new location.
A zoom lens is by no means the only important feature of a good CCTV camera , there are many other factors to consider. The choice of electronics is critical and we do a huge amount of testing to get things right. Correct selection of specific CCD and DSP chipsets is critical to ensure night time performance, daytime definition and the ability to cope with a wide range of operating conditions. Get it wrong or try to save money and whilst the camera’s technical specification will look good on paper it’s performance will be disappointing.
Where we are unusual within the world of CCTV is that we actually install and test all our products including the DVR recorders before putting them into stock. That way if there are any problems we identify them before it’s too late. This is in contrast to companies who rely on the marketing hype of different manufacturers which can sometimes be a little, shall we say optimistic.
Because we stock a broad choice of camera styles and then a complete range of lens options within each CCTV camera type, vandal dome, open faced vandal dome, day night, covert and so on, you can have what’s right for your particular needs rather than what happened to be in stock with the dealer or on special offer from the wholesalers. It’s no good saying “also available” if you can’t get it for 6 or 8 weeks.
The final thing to remember is that your camera is only as good as the CCTV camera accessories you buy. Cabling, power supplies and connectors all play their part in achieving your aim of a good quality CCTV system.
As with all aspects of CCTV if you have any questions or need any help then get in touch either by email or on the telephone. We’d much rather you bought the right equipment and achieved great results because a happy customer is a vocal one. Even if you think your question is a silly one ask it, we guarantee you it won’t be.
